The mapping module is a special report that displays the current section PCI of the pavement in a color-coded layout on a shapefile map. A shapefile must be added to view the PCI for a network in the current database. Shapefiles are associated to the Network level of the inventory. Each network in a database can have a separate shapefile.
Upon entering the maps module, all public databases with a shapefile are displayed on a map of the United States. Clicking on an airport will switch the current database to the selected airport and opens the shapefile. Airports must have their GPS coordinates set in the Inventory Update section of the Member Area in order to be displayed on the map. To view the geographic location of the shape file a projection must be provided.
